KOPYA TRILOGY:
THE STORY PART 1: “Kopya” is an action, horror, comedy set in the Philippines. Lucas, Brice, Kwame and George, all mixed martial arts fighters, are on a flight to Angeles City, Philippines, to find their lost master. Lucas wakes up from a nightmare in which he’s getting beaten in an MMA fight - a nightmare that actually happened just a week ago, when he almost lost the match that got them the money to make this important trip. Brice, his best friend and the leader of the group, comforts him as he wakes up in a sweat from this dream. Lucas is an excellent fighter, but he has a fatal flaw - when the moment comes to land the knockout punch, his hand falters. The next day, the team heads out to a local place called Casa Filipinas, where they think their master might be, but Brice gets sidetracked and follows a woman into a local bar…where he gets the shock of his life. As he peeks into the darkly lit bar, he sees a man kneeling on the ground. Then he hears a crunching sound and sees the man's head roll into the room - detached from the body. As Brice runs from the bar, he and his friends are followed and an epic fight ensues on a jeepney (a local Filipino taxi made from old army jeeps) as it travels through the city. As the fight escalates, they are joined by Jane Campos, a local to Angeles City, and her crew, along with Bayani, the leader of a resistance movement against…. …aliens, who have invaded Angeles city, but look human. Bayani, Jane and others have been fighting them in secret for months. The Americans learn that Bayani was a disciple of their Master, the very man they came to the Philippines to find. But Bayani lost track of the Master after they tried and failed to kill the alien Queen. In fact, Bayani thinks the master might have gone over to the dark side because the Queen, it turns out, can control humans' minds. The four Americans decide to stay and help Bayani and Jane fight the aliens, but it’s a journey filled with terrible costs. Ultimately, Lucas will be faced with the most difficult decision of all - killing the person he loves and respects the most, or risk letting the aliens win and destroy the world.

But things start to change when, one night, while tracking a target, Reno has to go on to a karaoke stage to protect his cover …. and gets a taste of his long lost first love, singing. As he moves from job to job, he starts singing at more and more karaoke bars. And then, one night, he hears something he never thought possible - a man singing his favorite song, “Lonely Teardrops,” even better than the original artist, the great Jackie Wilson. In a flash, Reno realizes that this singer, Alfonso Diaz, is someone he could never kill - Reno finds that he has a moral code. This discovery shakes him to his core and throws him off his game. Had he always had a moral code and just ignored it? What’s happening to him? He leaves town that night and heads to a new job - but gets sloppy and messes up the kill. DISOBEDIENCE
After a race riot breaks out, two African American boys and a white girl are thrown back in time to 1864, when slavery ruled the south, and must work together to fight their way back to present day.
THE STORY: It’s a hot summer in Atlanta, Ga, present day. The city explodes into a riot after police kill an unarmed African American. Jordan and Marcus, two African American boys, decide to venture out and "get stuff" while chaos reigns in the streets. But they are soon seen by police while looting and run into a church…only to find that it is on fire! The pastor, who is white, asks them to help free three people, including the pastor’s daughter Joelle, who are trapped in the burning building. Jordan and Marcus have a profound distrust of white people, having been harassed by white cops their whole lives. But they decide that they have to do the right thing or their moms would kill them. They run into the church, find a huge metal cross, and use it to break through a wall and free the people inside… Except that, once they crash through the wall, they aren’t in the church anymore, but are back in 1864, with the pastor’s daughter, Joelle. They are immediately confronted by white men on horses demanding "what you 2 niggas doing with that white girl?" A big fight breaks out and another white man grabs a hold of Jordan and Marcus and promises a proper hanging. Joelle is then taken by two other white men. Jordan and Marcus are terrified. However, they soon find that the men who have taken them are really from the abolitionist movement, and are helping slaves escape via the Underground Railroad. They discover, though, that while these men have good intentions, they don’t totally believe in the equality of African Americans, just that it’s not right to enslave people. Jordan and Marcus have to deal with their well earned distrust of white people, work with these men to find Joelle and return to present times.

THE SHADOW MAN
Three close friends travel to the Philippines to document a haunted village, and must survive being hunted by an evil spirit.
THE STORY: Three friends in their early 20’s, Calvin, Martha and James, travel to the Philippines. Martha is first generation American and wants to go back and do a short documentary about her parent’s home village. There’s a legend that the village is haunted by an evil spirit. The village is now abandoned and isolated, surrounded by old WWII bunkers and a run down, desolate hospital. It’s creepy as hell, which is perfect for their documentary. On their first night they go through the jungle near the bunkers, shooting footage and hoping to see something …. well, scary. But nothing happens. Dejected, they return to their hotel and watch the footage. And that’s when something scary does happen. As they look at some footage of them walking down the corridor of the abandoned hospital, they hear what sounds like an eerie dragging noise coming through the speakers, as if someone is following them and pulling a large object. The sound is clearly coming from their video footage, yet none of the friends can remember hearing such a creepy noise when they were on location. Intrigued, they listen to more footage … and hear a voice that sounds just like James, making moaning noises and talking about being stuck in a dark place. Calvin and Martha look at James, who shrugs. The weird voice stops for a second, and then becomes really loud and clear “Oh my God - they’re pulling me down. RUN. RUN!!!” Martha and Calvin look up - James no longer looks innocent. He’s got a wicked smile on his face. He’s been taken over by the evil spirit, his soul sent down to the spirit’s dimension. Martha and Calvin must find a way to save their friend from the evil spirit, without getting taken over themselves. This will be a found footage film: the premise, that the spirit can only be heard through recordings, will make this a fresh entry in the found footage genre.
